Linux DVD Watchers Win in Norway

A win for consumer rights!! From Aftenposten (Norwegian Newspaper): 'DVD Jon' scores huge legal victory and 'DVD Jon' delighted with acquittal The Register: DVD Jon is free - official

Needless to say, Jack Valenti and his MPAA heavies are probably going to pressure the prosecution to appeal (and hopefully fail - digging their hole that much deeper.) The MPAA and the RIAA are a couple of the biggest corporate bullies in the world today. They spread their FUD and anti-consumer propaganda shamelessly.

This is a victory for fair use, at least in Norway, and for the internet in principal. While I support the rights of creators to be remunerated for their work, I also support the rights of consumers to make personal use of the media and content they have purchased in a manner that is convenient to them.
