Silicon Valley Unemployment in October is 7.9%

From Reuters (Yahoo News) Full story

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The technology downturn continues to hammer
California's Silicon Valley, where the unemployment rate in October was 7.9 percent, the highest level since 1983 and well above last month's statewide average of 6.4 percent.

This 7.9% unemployement number doesn't count those, like myself, who've dropped off the UI rolls because our benefits (including extensions) have run out.

How does a woman who is over 40, disabled, and on her second career find meaningful work in this environment? I can't even fall back on the old service sector standbys because of my disability!

Slightly used sysadmin for sale, cheap...
